ABOUT CONSUMER WORLD

Edgar Dworsky

Consumer World is a public service, noncommercial consumer resource guide highlighting the latest consumer news, scam alerts, and ways to save to money.

Consumer World was founded by Edgar Dworsky (aka "MrConsumer") in 1995. A companion site spotlighting the loopholes in the fine print of advertising, MousePrint.org, was launched in 2006. He has been a consumer advocate and consumer educator for over 45 years.

Edgar is a consumer lawyer who has authored a number of consumer protection laws, including the regulations under which the Massachusetts Lemon Law operates, and that state's food store item pricing law.

Although he has been tracking the downsizing of products for over three decades, he has more recently been known for spotlighting instances of "shrinkflation" and "skimpflation" on his websites. And President Biden even released a video in February 2024 asking manufacturers to voluntarily stop the practice. He showed examples of downsized products all drawn from Edgar's website.

Edgar is a former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General in consumer protection. He was formerly the Director of Consumer Education at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation in Boston and was a consultant for the Federal Trade Commission. He was also the consumer reporter for the then CBS television affiliate in Boston.
